Kowhai Cottage • Charming character home

Brilliant, quirky and cute Positive: Cute, quirky cottage, presented well with great amenities. Beds were very comfortable. Place was clean and tidy. Multiple locations to sit outside and enjoy the bush surroundings. Handy location to Raglan wharf. Town centre was a little further away. Negative: Wasn’t a dislike for us, we found it added to the quirkiness is the fact that the cottage only has one bedroom, the other two you walk outside to access. Parking can be tricky, but with practise it gets easier

Peaceful and cute cottage. Positive: It’s a very cute, calm cottage and setting. The garden out house / sleep out is fabulous. It’s very comfortable and clean. Bed in sleep out was super comfy, double bed in bedroom in house is soft, the two singles are soft to medium! Good shower. It had decent kitchen utensils etc. Negative: This only matters to our family, thus please note this does not apply to all persons keen to book the cottage. It’s the perfect space for adults or those with teenagers - not small kids like us. The house is a tiny cottage. It has one bedroom in the main house. The second bedroom is outside the main house, down stairs toward the garden and then you go under the house and that’s where the second bedroom with two single beds is; under the house. It’s a little dark but it’s cosy. The issue was, to go to the toilet (during the nights) or shower you had to go outside and up and old wooden stairs. This was an issue for us at night with our little kid. The third bedroom is a sleep out with its own bedroom. It’s separate from the house. It’s warm and cosy - even in winter. It has its own bathroom. I would stay again on a couples or girls trip, just not a trip with small kids! A better description of the house ie: fact only one bedroom is in the house, second is under the house and third is a sleep out would be advised. We left a day early due to kids and toilets during the night etc. Better storage would be advised. There is no where in any bedroom to put your clothes and unpack.
